Westfield Area Y Thrills and Chills at Six Flags Great Adventure @ Six Flags Great Adventure

The Westfield Area YMCA invites teens in grades 6-12 to grab their friends and join them for some thrills and chills at Six Flags Great Adventure’s Fright Fest on Friday, September 29 when the park transforms into a “scream park” with Halloween themed shows and attractions in addition to its world-class thrill rides.  A Westfield Area YMCA membership is not required.

The bus departs at 4:00PM from both Roosevelt and Edison Schools and will return to the Main Y Facility, 220 Clark Street in Westfield by Midnight. Rain date is October 13. The trip includes round trip transportation, chaperones and admission. Registration and payment is required by September 20.  No outside food or drinks are allowed into the park.  Participants can bring money for food and games. Register in-person at the Main Y Facility or online at  Completed permission slip along with payment (discounted fees for those who have a season pass) can be dropped off at the Welcome Center at the Main Y Facility or in the main offices of Roosevelt and Edison Middle Schools in Westfield.

The Y provides affordable structured and supervised activities such as trips, sports classes and leagues, fitness classes, swim team, Leaders Club, Debate Team, Achievers, Friday Night Teen Nights, dances and more. These activities give teens opportunities to increase their level of responsibility and independence and build self-esteem, important building blocks in their healthy development. Financial assistance is available for those who qualify.

Winter break is the perfect time to learn how to become a lifeguard.

During winter break is the perfect time to get certified as a Lifeguard. The course is December 27th-29th from 10:00 am – 8:00 pm for those who pass the physical skills test.  Registration is going on now for both the test and course for members and non-members for a fee.  Participant must be at least age 16 by the last day of class. Contact Rob Faggiano at (908) 233-2700 x276 to schedule the physical skills test required before registering for the course.
