    House on Haunted Hill stars Vincent Price as sinister gent Frederick Loren, who resides in a sinister mansion on a sinister hill, where seven murders have occurred.     Magician Doug Thornton will present “Magic Forever,” a fun, family show recommended for ages eight and up. Mr. Thornton, a member of the Society of American Magicians, has been performing magic since the 1970s. The show will feature classics of magic, comedy, mind-reading, and some new effects as well. Audience participation will be encouraged. Admission is free and all are welcome. The program is sponsored by the Cranford Public Library.

    On Saturday, October 17, 2015, at 8:00 a.m., the Cerebral Palsy League will host its 13th Annual 5K Run. It will take place at 61 Myrtle Street in Cranford, New Jersey. The run is a fundraising event benefitting the Cerebral Palsy League (CPL). Every year this event brings together more than 200 runners, families and community leaders for a fun and worthwhile cause. It will feature a continental breakfast, family fun activities, and races for various abilities. The races will include the 5K, 1 Mile Ramble, and Kids’ Dashes.     The Cranford Historical Society’s Crane-Phillips House Museum will once again participate in Union County’s annual program, “Four Centuries in a Weekend”. This American Civil War veteran’s cottage will be open Saturday, October 17th from 10:00 am-5:00 pm and Sunday, October 18th from 12:00 noon-5:00 pm. Volunteer docents will be on hand to speak with visitors and provide a guided tour of the museum. “Here Comes The Bride” is this year’s theme. Wedding Gowns from 1880 through 1980 will be on display as well as accessories, wedding photographs, bridal customs and memorabilia from the 19th and 20th century. The Crane-Phillips House Museum is available as our own local history museum through the hard work of volunteers and members of the Cranford Historical Society. It has received generous support from the Cranford Historical Society, Union County Freeholders, Cranford citizens and the Township of Cranford. Various materials about the weekend-long self-guided tour are available from the Office of Union County Cultural and Heritage Affairs, materials will also be at many of the sites. A booklet features photos and information about each site with a map showing the location. The Crane-Phillips House Museum located at 124 North Union Avenue in Cranford is open September thru May on Sundays from 2:00-4:00pm or by appointment. Admission is free. Founded in 1927, the Cranford Historical Society’s mission is to preserve and perpetuate the history of Cranford.
