    Join the Actor’s Garage for a program that teaches acting with a focus on TV, film and commercials. The class teaches actors through the basic tools of concentration, relaxation and improvisation to be more self-confident, trusting, outgoing and comfortable in group situations. Classes are taught through positive reinforcement and encouragement. The August class offered is as follows: Grades 3-5 Mon-Friday August 3-7 Time: 10:00am-12:00pm. The cost is $135.     A tribute to legendary casting director Marion Dougherty (1923-2011), who had an exceptional eye for talent and supplied big breaks for actors such as James Dean, Robert Duvall, Robert Redford, and Glenn Close. The film also explores how Dougherty helped change the way Hollywood cast movies as it moved away from the old studio system in the 1960s and '70s.—All Movie. Admission is free and all are welcome.     The Westfield Area Y is happy to offer a new Basketball Clinic this summer for boys and girls ages 5-14 at the Main Y Facility, 220 Clark Street in Westfield. The Basketball Clinic is a four-week program that runs from August 3rd – August 28th. Younger athletes will learn basic dribbling, shooting and passing skills through fun drills and more advanced athletes will enhance existing skills as well as offensive and defensive strategies through guided game-play situations and scrimmages. The Basketball Clinic for children ages 5-7 years old will run on Tuesdays from 6:00 pm – 7:00 pm, for ages 8-10 years old on Wednesdays from 6:00 pm – 7:00 pm and for ages 11-14 years old on Thursdays from 6:00 pm – 7:30 pm.     The Misfits, the final film of stars Clark Gable and Marilyn Monroe, is an elegy for the death of the Old West. Gable stars as an aging hand traveling the byways and working at rodeos with his two comrades, played by Eli Wallach and Montgomery Clift. The three men come up with a plan to corral some misfit mustangs and sell them for dog food, but Gable's new girlfriend, a high-minded ex-stripper portrayed by Marilyn Monroe, is appalled by the plan.--All Movie

    Choose from more than 10,000 children's and adult books, CDs, DVDs, and recorded books. Prices range from $.25 to $2.00, except for vintage and autographed volumes, which are specially marked. Access to the sale is through the side door of the library, just off the main parking lot. The sale is wheelchair accessible. Proceeds benefit the library.
