  • The Forgotten History of African American Baseball

    In celebration of Black History Month, the Cranford Public Library is pleased to host this presentation by Dr. Lawrence Hogan. Dr. Hogan, Emeritus Professor of History at Union County College, has taught, researched, written about, and spoken in the field of African American history for more than 40 years. He is the author "Shades of Glory: The Negro Leagues and the Story of African-American Baseball" (2006) and "So Many Seasons in the Sun: A Century and More of Conversations with Baseballís Greatest Clubhouse Managers" (2013). His latest book--upon which his lecture is based--is "The Forgotten History of African American Baseball: Slavery Times, Jim Crow, Negro Leagues." Admission is free and all are welcome. The program is funded by the Horizons Speakers Bureau of the New Jersey Council for the Humanities, a state partner of the National Endowment for the Humanities.
