It was, at the time, the most powerful naval attack force ever assembled--34 Japanese warships, including six carriers and 350 fighter planes. At 6:30 a.m. on the morning of Sunday, December 7, 1941, it was positioned 270 miles north of the Hawaiian island of Oahu. The attack was swift. It left chaos in its wake, damaged much of the U.S. Pacific Fleet, killed more than 2,400 soldiers, Marines and civilians, sank the U.S.S. Arizona, with 1,177 men on board, and plunged America into World War II. The Friends of the Cranford Public Library invite you to join Dr. James P. Kane as he recounts the story of the attack on Pearl Harbor in words, pictures, and music. Admission is free and all are welcome.
