On Saturday\, May 14th\, the B
orough of Roselle Park will host its 2nd Annual Street Savvy
\nCyclin
g Skills Clinic and Helmet Giveaway. This event is presented by 5th Ward C
ouncilman\,
\nJay Robaina\, and New Jersey Bike & Walk Coalition Prog
ram Director\, Paul Mickewicz\, who will
\ninstruct the clinic.
Paul will lead riders through bike handling skills such as starts\, sto
ps\, scanning\, signaling\,
\nhazard avoidance\, turning\, yielding\,
and more so residents know what to look for and can be a
\nstreet sa
vvy cyclist when bike riding in Roselle Park. Safe Kids Union County and C
hildren’s
\nSpecialized Hospital will also be providing free helmets
to those without one.
Mayor Joe Signorello anticipates an even gre
ater turnout for this year’s event. “After the
\nsuccess of our first
cycling clinic last summer\, I’m excited to continue this program for cyc
lists of
\nall ages\, especially children\,” he said. “Learning how t
o ride a bike is the first step\, but knowing
\nhow to be safe while
riding is incredibly important. I hope residents will take advantage of th
